Today’s NY TImes has a front page article in the Science Times section entitled “A Call for a Low-Carb Diet” . The link to the article is here, The author cites a recent National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded study that shows better cholesterol and weight outcomes for people eating a low-carbohydrate vs low-fat diet. An eight pound difference was noted, with cholesterol changes seen in the type of LDL, or bad cholesterol. The low-carb group had more fluffy LDL, reducing their chances for heart attack and stroke.
